∆ write brief note on the "king lear" Aristotelian literary tradition.
_ assigned by Dilip barad sir.

∆ Introduction:- "king lear" written by William Shakespeare.King Lear echo's Aristotle's concept of tragedy, as the accepted king with that disastrous flaw in his character and that evokes understanding of the audience.

Shakespeare's play sets King Lear to be the ruler of Britain, where he is highly-esteemed by people below him in social status.

∆ concept of tragedy:- Like Shakespeare's other famous tragedies, King Lear features a noble-born protagonist who makes a fatal mistake that leads to widespread suffering and, eventually, the death of himself and several others.

∆ Aristotelian literary tradition in king lear :-
1. Tragic hero and Hamartia:- In Shakespeare's tragic play King Lear, Lear the main character demonstrated all the necessary requirements of being a tragic hero. His high social status nourishes his hamartia which is hubris, and the tragedy is initiated by the banishment of Kent and Cordelia.

2. Catharsis :-Catharsis is the moment of release an audience feels after experiencing strong emotions. King Lear certainly engages the audience's emotions, but whereas cathartic experiences lead to a feeling of renewal, Shakespeare's play does not. For one thing, punishment in the play often outweighs the crime.

3.Reversal and recognition :-King Lear's transition from disowning Cordelia because of his arrogance to recognizing her as his only faithful daughter is demonstrated through Lear's death, which serves as the culmination of his development and a reversal of his character.

4. Unity of time ,place and action:-only the last can be directly attributed to Aristotle, who referred to it as the "principal of organic unity of literature." In King Lear, Shakespeare abides by this principal, which states that the plot should have a beginning, middle and end, it should be the ...

∆conclusion :-Seeing no way out, Goneril kills herself, and the dying Edmund confesses his misdeeds and releases Cordelia. However, it is too late to save Cordelia from the hangman. Lear's heart breaks as he carries the body of his beloved youngest daughter in his arms, and he dies.
